Minutes from Tuesday (11/14/06) meeting (at Clairemont Inn - 7:00)

Members present:  10 total present including:  Todd Tennies, Dave Wolf, Jim Chesak, Lance Hittman, Doug Hall, Dan Retzki, John Hopp, Ann Parris, Scott Poole, and Rick Bury

                                                Football Banners and Membership Drive

                The AD’s and Terry Chesak are working together on this and more will follow.            

Announcements/New Business 

                The group decided to remove the PO Box as it has been rarely used.  This will save a bit of money each year.  Our stationary will be changing within the next couple of months.  Expect to see meeting minutes on new stationary soon.  Also, all East and West Freshman games will be played on Pick Field from here on.

                The West Bend Mutual Foundation will be donating around $2500 to the Gridiron Club for us to give to the WB High School weight room project.  The Gridiron Club will also be donating $1500, for a total of $4000 given to the project.  New equipment has been ordered for the weight room and it has been painted.  New floor mats will also be put in. 

                The Gridiron Club is also donating some funds to the following WBHS groups:  WBW/WBE dance teams, band, cheerleading teams, and maintenance.  These groups have a direct relationship with the football teams and/or are present at the games supporting the football teams.  The Gridiron Club would like to show their appreciation for all these groups do by making a donation to each.

The athletic directors have also begun the process of looking for a federal grant for a new weight room facility.  They are in the process of writing up the request for this new facility.  This could be a very sizable amount to build a brand new weight room for both high schools.  The process could take several months and updates will be given as progress is made.     

                We also discussed the fact that all the funds for Varsity Reserve football has been used up.  Coach Poole talked about the great value the Reserve program has had for the West team the past two years.  Many athletes got playing time they would not have on Friday nights.  The WB Kiwanis has just recently donated $1000.  We will need to begin fund-raising for the Reserve program soon, to increase the generous donation from the Kiwanis.  Thanks to the WB Kiwanis for helping the WBHS football programs.  

Moving forward, the members present talked about the group focusing a bit more on football.  As it is easily the most expensive sport and most-populated with athletes, the group thought that we should narrow our focus to mainly/only football-related items.
